Life moves quickly, I think we can agree
A newborn so helpless, I remember
But in a blink of an eye she will be
Starting kindergarten in September

Long nights, falling asleep on my shoulder
After rocking back and forth and singing
Like a sleepless zombie, I would hold her
To her blankie, baby would be clinging

Grateful to’ve been there for so many firsts
First steps, first words, and first day of preschool
And yes, even there for her first outbursts
Life moves quickly, Father Time can be cruel

So we must treasure short years and long days
And not let life pass us by in a haze
