I like food. I like sports. And I also happen to like good company too, so when James R.C. Smith of SocialDad.ca asked if I wanted to join him for the BC Lions season opener, of course I agreed. And it came with the added perk of a VIP food tour with chef William Tse too, plus the glories of the BC Place Stadium suite. The suite life is pretty sweet.

Why does James keep getting invited to these cool events? You might recall that I was also his guest at Monster Jam earlier this year. This time around, BC Place Stadium wanted to show off some of the new food they’ll be offering this season.

What’s great is that while you can still enjoy stadium favorites like bacon-wrapped hot dogs, Chef William Tse has really elevated what “game day” grub can look like. From butter chicken poutine to shrimp tacos, house-made sushi to a Super Happy Veggie bowl, there’s something for everyone.

Oh, and then there’s the Outrageous burger, the mini version of which James is attempting to eat in the photo above. The full-size version consists of — get this — three beef patties, three chicken strips, six strips of bacon, three slices of cheddar cheese, one hot dog wiener, fries, and house recipe sauce. Perfect for all the health-conscious, gluten-free vegans out there, right?

James has a post about his stadium food experience too, so be sure to check that out as well. And yes, in case you’re wondering, the #5DadsGoWild camping trip is very much happening again this year. Stay tuned for details!

Disclosure: The good people at BC Place Stadium invited us on this food tour and to take in the BC Lions game from their signature suite. All opinions are my own.
