I know I say this almost every month, but how it already the end of the month again?! When we were kids, sometimes it felt like summer break lasted forever. Now, we blink our eyes and several years have already passed us by. Maybe that’s all the more reason why we need to document our days better. And so, with that thought in mind, we begin with the August speedlink. I’m taking a different approach this time, focusing on Instagram Reels from some fellow dad blogger types.

We start off with @jamesrcs, who recently purchased a new drone. As luck would have it, he spotted a bald eagle during one of his first flights. That’s got to count for something!

On a more somber note, @adadintheburbs takes on a ride through Lytton, BC. The wildfires are still raging and the damage has been devastating. Many people are still evacuated from their homes and the losses have been tremendous.

On a brighter note, @stephenfung recently took the family on a bit of a road trip. One of the more interesting discoveries along the way was the tallest treehouse in BC, located in Revelstoke. Our family had considered a local vacation, but here we are at the end of August and we haven’t ventured further than North Vancouver.

As it turns out, @life_with_benjamin isn’t only talented with his creative still images. He does amazing work with video and Instagram Reels too. The myth of Supermom often contains some version of the bumbling buffoon of a dad. David disagrees, based on his solo parenting experience for a whole weekend. This is fine.

When we traveled to Toronto back in 2018, we took a short day trip to Niagara Falls too. Now, there’s a new attraction opening there and @goatroti is giving us an inside look. The Niagara Parks Power Station isn’t operational, but a lot of the original equipment is still there. The building is over 100 years old!

And finally, we finish our Instagram Reels journey with @_dadswagg. You know how my family is still shopping for a new car? We’re not as sold on the idea of a minivan at this point, but the upsides to the minivan are undeniable. Look at all that space!

Of course, I can’t help but to include a little bit of shameless self-promotion too. If you enjoy following a dad’s point of view with Instagram Reels, I do that sort of thing too. Follow me at @beyondtherhetoric to see what I’ve been up to lately. And remember that #5DadsGoWild is right around the corner too! “It’ll be fun,” they said. “It’ll make great content,” they said.
