Remember when I used to do the What’s Up Wednesdays speedlink every week? Even though it’s been a monthly feature for some time now, I feel like I’m one the few bloggers left who do speedlinks at all. I’m taking a slightly different approach this time around as I dive into some videos from my YouTube watch history. Do you follow any of these channels too?

Alex on Autos – 2021 Kia Sorento

As you might recall, our family is shopping for a car. Sort of. Our current vehicle isn’t exactly falling apart, so it’s not a terribly urgent matter. We can wait. And while we wait, I’ve been doing a lot of research by way of watching YouTube videos. One crossover that has entered the conversation is the 2021 Kia Sorento. It’s a bit of a Goldilocks vehicle with three rows in a smaller package.

Alex on Autos is one of the best, most thorough car reviewers on YouTube. He’s especially relevant to us, because in addition to the usual features and performance overviews, he pays close attention to 2nd and 3rd row comfort, plus car seat placement considerations.

Team Coco – Andy’s Updated LinkedIn Profile

After over a decade at TBS, Conan O’Brien called it quits last week. Well, calling it “quits” isn’t quite accurate. He’s moving on to (presumably greener pastures at) HBO Max with a new show. The Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast is continuing too. (Listen to the recent Barack Obama interview, if you haven’t already. It’s a goodie.) In any case, leading up to that final TBS episode, Conan and Andy Richter offered some fun retrospectives and skits… like how Andy has updated his LinkedIn profile.

Marques Brownlee – Windows 11 Reactions

Remember when Microsoft told us that Windows 10 would be the last Windows ever? That it would just becoming a living operating system with periodic updates? Yeah, they changed their mind, because Windows 11 is very real and it’s very much on the way. They’ve borrowed some inspiration from macOS, but Windows 11 is definitely its own thing. Thankfully, it’ll be another free upgrade for most of us. And, it’ll support Android apps… via the Amazon App Store.

Nintendo Life – New Pokemon Snap Switch Review

Last spring, partly to mitigate the challenges of the pandemic, I indulged in two main impulse purchases. I bought a pair of Vessi shoes, and I got Animal Crossing for the Nintendo Switch. Since then, I haven’t really been playing all that much. Even so, I was really excited when they first announced New Pokemon Snap on Switch. I really liked the original game on Nintendo 64, so there’s a big nostalgia factor at play. Should I get it?

Live Breathe Media – Luke’s Entrance

I think, at this point, it’s safe to spoil the ending of The Mandalorian‘s second season, right? We had many theories about which Jedi was going to show up to save the day, but Luke Skywalker was an obvious frontrunner. The de-aged CGI Mark Hamill was divisive. We can’t deny just how epic his entrance was, though, slicing this way through Dark Troopers like soft cheese. And it’s made even more epic with the original Force theme music.

The Car Mom – The 2022 Acura MDX

Okay, one more car video to round out this collection. In addition to Alex on Autos, Motormouth, The Straight Pipes and several others, another YouTube channel I enjoy is The Car Mom. As you might imagine, she’s a mom… who talks about cars “for moms and families.” Conveniently, her family owns a number of dealerships and she’s a salesperson herself.

What’s different is that she really does take more of a “family” and “amenities” approach to her videos, paying close attention to car seat anchor placement, spacing, rear vent locations, and creature comforts. These are just as important to family car shoppers as horsepower and cubic feet of storage with all rows folded.

What are you watching on YouTube these days?
