Not to toot my own horn (it’s totally to toot my own horn), but I’ve made a few lists in my day. I mean, I didn’t win the Canadian Dad Blogger of the Year Award last year, so I guess I’ve still got a long way to go. And yes, while I can definitely feel like a square peg sometimes, the local Vancouver mom bloggers have always been more than gracious and welcoming… even if I’m sometimes the token dad. 😉

Now, as much as I’d love to list off all the Vancouver mom bloggers I know and adore, I’m going to highlight just five here. So, go ahead and hop on over to Instagram and give them all a follow.

Diana Chan (@foodologyca)

If you were to ask Diana Chan (@foodologyca), she would probably say that she doesn’t really belong on a list of Vancouver mom bloggers. And maybe that’s true. Foodology has been sharing incredible eats with us since 2010, so it’s understandable that the feed is populated entirely with delicious food. That’s true.

But, Diana also become a mom not that long ago and she’s been sharing more of that part of her life via her Instagram Stories. And, let’s be perfectly honest, parents like to eat too, and the Foodology feed, um, feeds that appetite perfectly.

Tairalyn Ciulla (@tairalyn_)

I’ve actually had this conversation with Tairalyn Ciulla (@tairalyn_). Motherhood certainly plays a very big role in her life and she shares a lot of those moments, both on Instagram and via the vlog on YouTube (and IGTV). At the same time, she hesitates a bit at the “mommy blogger” tag, as it doesn’t really encapsulate everything that she does.

It’s more about bringing smiles to people’s faces with everyday joys. Or “delightful chaos,” as she likes to put it. And Tairalyn, if anything, is certainly delightful. We just don’t share the same preferences in television.

Reg Lok Von (@reglokv)

You know, on so many levels, Reg Lok Von (@reglokv) represents goals. (Remember her brief cameo in my Vancouver Christmas Market vlog?) Her whole family is overflowing with personality, and they’re always up for a good time. Like, check out the the little photo shoot below from their antics at Halloween.

If you’re looking to borrow a page out of the ParticipACTION, Reg has plenty of tips and advice for how to keep fit and have fun too. Did you know she’s also a registered kinesiologist with an emphasis on functional movement?

Tamara Goyette (@discoveringparenthood)

Do you like Disney stuff? Like, really like Disney stuff? Then, you’ll really like Tamara Goyette of Discovering Parenthood (@discoveringparenthood). Her Instagram feed is filled with a lot of wholesome family fun, from taking a day trip up to Whistler in search of snow to baking some of their favorite Christmas cookies. Tamara’s good people.

Laura Crawford (@prettypetunias)

Describing her self as a photographer, blogger, writer, and kid wrangler with interests in style, interior design and baked goods, Laura Crawford (@prettypetunias) really does encapsulate all of the above… with a healthy dose of travel and local exploration along the way, too! Go ahead and enjoy her healthy splashes of color, from lingonberry sweet rolls to derailed box cars than have been transformed into bold graffiti-laden art installations.

More Than Mom Bloggers

Labels are a curious thing, as you know. As such, it’s very important to point out that these wonderful ladies are so much more than “just” mom bloggers. Just like how I’m more than “just” a dad blogger. Just like how you’re than “just” the biggest fan of Beyond the Rhetoric ever. (Too far?)

They’re real, three-dimensional human beings, and the more we get to know one another across social media and beyond, the better off all of us will be. Do you have a favorite local Instagrammer — parenting blogger or otherwise — that didn’t make the list? Feel free to give them a shout-out in the comments here. Or, better yet, share this post and tag them on your social platform of choice!
