Sure, you could enroll the kids in a variety of summer camps and swimming lessons, but those fees can add up very quickly. And then there are numerous paid attractions like the Vancouver Aquarium and Science World too. What about the options that don’t cost money? Well, in this week’s video, I highlight some fun and FREE kids activities you can enjoy in Metro Vancouver this summer.
You don’t need to spend a lot of money to keep the children entertained and engaged during the summer. Yes, you can visit the huge variety of neighborhood parks and playgrounds; Rocky Point in Port Moody is especially popular, particularly with live music on Sundays. Remember to take advantage of your local public library too.
Not only can you take out unlimited books and DVDs; the library also hosts a number of special events throughout the summer too, like story time, LEGO clubs, arts and crafts workshops, and even puppet shows. You can usually check their website for a full schedule, including events and activities for kids, teens, and adults alike.
In fact, it was because of the local library that we learned about the free kids activities with Metro Vancouver Regional Parks. Creatures of the Not-So-Deep at Belcarra was awesome. It was hosted by a marine biologist (no, not Costanza) and made for a thoroughly fun and educational event. And it was free!

Oh man those camps can add up so quickly! This is a great list Michael.
