I mean, I may as well kill two birds with one stone. Or two dinosaurs with one meteor, as the case may be. What? Too soon? Over the weekend, we went to check out the “live” dinosaurs at Jurassic Quest, a traveling event that boasts “true to life size dinosaurs.” And so, I thought I’d capture the experience with the new Huawei P30 Lite I’m currently testing. As Dr. Ian Malcolm once said, “Life, uh, finds a way…”

I’ve been fascinated with dinosaurs since I was just a little kid, an interest firmly solidified by 1993’s Jurassic Park. From Ankylosaurus to Pachycephalosaurus, Deinonychus to Compsognathus, I was absolutely obsessed. Now that I’m a father, I’ve been able to rekindle some of that interest and explore this world all over again with my little one.

We loved watching Dinosaur Train together (when it was still on Netflix). We enjoy reading the How Do Dinosaurs… series of books by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague. So, of course we had to check out Jurassic Quest when we heard they were coming to Vancouver.

In hindsight, we probably should have splurged for the $36 VIP ticket (that’s USD) for the kiddo so she could enjoy “unlimited rides and activities,” rather than the $22 regular ticket. Individual attractions are $7 each; we only picked up one ticket so she could enjoy a bouncy castle. It’s not cheap and I was partly hoping for more of a “show” element to it.

On the bright side, Jurassic Quest occupied one of the biggest spaces at Vancouver Convention Centre (West). Aside from the Walking Dinosaurs and Baby Dinosaur shows, we never felt crowded. The lineups for the individual attractions were perfectly manageable too.

One day, we’ll have to return to Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller, Alberta as a family. Are there any other great “dinosaur museums” we should add to our bucket list? We’ve already been to the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
