Yup, I’m still working my way through all the footage I got during our spring break road trip down to Oregon. As you might remember, we stayed at Aloft Portland Airport at Cascade Station for the first part of the trip. After three nights in Portland, we hit the road for the Oregon Coast. The Tradewinds Condo Hotel is at the northernmost end of the Seaside Promenade, offering a homey experience for our few nights there.
We don’t do the condo rental or home share arrangement all that often, though our stay at Tradewinds in Seaside was technically booked just like any normal hotel. As I mention in the video, the property (as in specific units, not just the complex as a whole) is listed on several websites.
The condo-style accommodations reminded me of some places where we stayed in Europe and in Australia. There’s a small kitchenette, outfitted with pots and pans, a two-burner stove, and other cooking facilities. It wasn’t the largest place — just a bachelor suite — but it was big enough. And it afforded us an unobstructed view of Seaside Beach and the Pacific Ocean.
Rates will vary, depending on season and availability. Each condo in Tradewinds Condo Hotel carries a different rate too; ocean views cost a bit more, unobstructed ocean views cost more than that. It’s a tourist-centric town with prices to match. With taxes, we paid nearly $550 for three nights during spring break. You can expect to pay a lot less during the week and during the low-season. I suspect rates get even higher in the summer.
For my part, I liked having this quiet stretch of beach right next to our hotel. Have you ever visited the Oregon Coast? Where did you stay?
