Many of us get caught up in our ambitions and we lose sight of how to best take care of ourselves. In chasing that almighty dollar, for instance, we may find that we sacrifice sleep and proper nutrition. On the flip side, we may pile on the debt as we seek out happiness with our purchases. Neither strategy is viable in the long-run.
For this edition of What’s Up Wednesdays, I turn to the Internet community to see what bloggers are doing to take care of themselves. Here are a few posts that I found.
Managing Your Blood Sugar
Just Food Fun is a blog about fun food and fun family by Ray Ebersole, one of the winners of my Top Thinker Contest last month. As a diabetic, he needs to keep a close eye on his blood sugar level and he describes what makes your blood sugar change so much. He also explains what you can do about it.
What’s with All these Machines?
Joe Gets Fit takes you on a mission to a healthier lifestyle. The hardest step is always the first one, so here is a beginner’s guide to working out at the gym. The first visit can be pretty intimidating, so you’ll want to prepare yourself for what’s to come.
Cleansing on Protein Shakes
BlueFur‘s Gary Jones is documenting his fitness quest on the Thinkreferrals Blog. Last week, he and Rainer Schmoll went through a four-day veggie cleanse, eating nothing but vegetables for four straight days. This week, Gary is doing a Shake It Up cleanse, consuming nothing but protein shakes for four days. That’s dedication!
Doubting Your Doubt
Fiction Scribe takes a slightly different approach to writer’s block, telling us that it could be an issue known as the confidence complex. Are you already doubting yourself before you write the first word? What can you do to overcome this speedbump?
A Presidential Treat from Korea
Betshopboy knows that we all need to treat ourselves from time to time, so when he hit up the local provision store, he couldn’t help himself. Snickers bar? Skittles? No. Betshopboy bought himself some Obama Candy from Korea. I wonder if there is a hidden meaning to the black currant content?
I may not be the fittest or into the healthy food 24/7 but I do think a good balance is needed.
People may think I’m nuts but I train a lot (well been slacking lately) but I’m on the water 4 days a week and in the gym 2 or 3 times a week.
Thanks for mention Michael! I find it very hard as a diabetic to balance food all the time with work, kids and a second job. Sleep, stress and frequency of eating really bounce my blood sugar around.
Today I started out at 116 at 7am, was 130 before lunch, 106 two hours after my salad and 119 right now at 4:00pm. Now if I had eaten a sandwich or some other carb food my number after lunch would have been 160-170. So, it’s a balancing game.
Now I’m off to check out the other sites in todays post.
I guess the ‘black currant’ pun was totally intended.
What intrigued me even more was the US Presidential seal on the label, I wonder if the secret service would pick up and follow up on this?
