Yan Can Cook And So Can You!

Every Wednesday, I highlight several blog posts from around the Internet that I think are worth reading. Most weeks, these collections are quite varied in subject matter. Today, the first few posts surround the topic of food, but the last couple dive more into the world of entrepreneurship. Let’s get down to it.

First, we have my friend Ed Lau. He is applying for Richmond’s 365 Days of Dining food blogger job. Given his big social media presence and his knowledge of all kinds of cuisine, Ed is a pretty great candidate. His chances are even better since I’m not applying. Maybe that’s why he’s throwing his hat into the race. 😉

Continuing on the topic of gastronomic adventures, we have Mijune Pak of Follow Me Foodie. When she enjoys a feast, she really enjoys a feast. Check out her post on lamb five ways, which involved an entire lamb carcass. She also added Momofuku milk bar cakes, charcuterie, house-made cheese, raw oysters, fresh sashimi, and more!

Of course, there’s a price to be paid with culinary indulgences. Valerie Zink has been overweight since fourth grade, but she has now documented her weight loss journey for all of us to read, showing us how she became “a new me” forever. That takes a lot of dedication and she’s now a marathon runner and a triathlete. Kudos!

Turning to the world of business, we find Chris Bibey discussing work-at-home distractions and how we can overwhelm them. I work primarily out of my home office, so I can easily identify with some of the concerns that Chris addresses in his post. Remember to prioritize and to focus on the essentials.

And finally, Internet marketing expert Neil Patel offers some great advice on optimizing your business for local search and social marketing. In today’s web, it is increasingly challenging to get noticed. You need a strategy and a plan. Do you have locally optimized title tags and location-specific pages? Are you listed in local search directories?
