The Westin Taipei Hotel Video Tour
June 9th, 2011 by Michael KwanWhile the Forte Orange room was meant to be an economical workhorse of a hotel room for us to cover Computex, the room at Westin is decidedly different. We get a much larger and more luxurious room at the Westin, but we sacrifice complimentary in-room Internet access. That costs $15 a day for sub-par speeds. The good news is that there is free Wi-Fi in the “public areas” of the hotel, including just outside our room.
Covering a trade show certainly isn’t a vacation, so I’m glad that we are able to take more of a holiday this week to do the tourist thing. As a small business owner, there is never a “good” time to take time off. You just have to force yourself to do it, even if you still take on an extremely lightened workload to accommodate. And enjoying the luxuries of the Westin is a nice perk to boot. It’s good that we were able to get an industry rate on the room, as I’m sure the regular price for the Westin is more than the Forte Orange.
On a side note, we got a “free” upgrade to an “executive” room at the Westin, so this video may not be necessarily indicative of a “standard” room. Bonus!

Looks a great deal bigger. A plus with what looks like a much larger bathroom. The dead space from the other room was taken up by the minibar and fridge too. But overall the living area looked almost the same size.
What are your thoughts Michael?
Also, are you standing outside your room for the free WIFI? I know I would take a chair out there and sit with the laptop for the free Internet over a $15/day charge.
The overall living area feels a little bigger.
As far as the WiFi, there’s a padded bench around the corner from my room, so I usually sit there.
The best time to go is go during the summer and autumn period in Taiwan, Well, first you’ll have to schedule an appt with him to ask if and when he plans on having an affair at a seedy hotel, and if the answer is yes, then you’ll have to ask if you can tape him.
