Not surprisingly, we’ve got a little bit of everything for today’s speedlink session as well. The readers of Beyond the Rhetoric tend to be quite the eclectic bunch, so here are a few different blog posts that can satiate just about any kind of reading appetite. Enjoy!

Simon Mackie points out a stellar new feature in Google Docs. You can now upload a PDF file and it can go through the OCR ringer to convert that “image” into text. Such software has existed for a long time, but it’s good to see it available with Google Documents too. Yet another way for Google to dominate my life.

Jason from Foximus reminds us that just about everything in life is negotiable. Saving a penny is just as good as earning an extra penny, so be sure to negotiate your rent before you sign that lengthly lease agreement. Look for ways that you can knock down that monthly payment and you’ll have a few extra bucks in your pocket for discretionary spending.

John Biehler is very active in the social media sphere, so he didn’t hesitate to be one of the organizers at WordCamp Vancouver 2010. Similar in nature to Freelance Camp but focusing on WordPress, WordCamp is a great place to learn more about the blogging platform and what it can do for you.

Leo Chiang is the proud owner of a new Xbox 360 S (even before I get my free one from E3!), but last week, he was busy watching Bas Rutten take out would-be muggers outside a grocery store. As you may already know, Bas Rutten was once quite the formidable opponent in the UFC octagon. Now, he’s fighting crime.

Farhan Devji of Beyond Robson has a great write-up on a good Twitter buddy and fellow Canucks fan. Richard Loat, who some of you may know as @mozy19 on Twitter, has founded Five Hole for Food. This is a cross-country road hockey adventure that raises food for local food banks. The ten-day trip starts in Montreal on June 29th, stopping in Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria, and Vancouver.
