I’ve been having some trouble with the “comment” system on this blog, and as such, have been back and forth with the GoDaddy technical staff on the matter. Let’s just say that I haven’t had the best customer service experience with them thus far (I had some issues setting up this blog in the first place way back in March). A few people have said that they get a “timed out” error, or that they are inputing an incorrect security code. Well, check out my email transcript thus far. They just keep telling me that they’re not having any issues. Are you? Email me at michael (at) michaelkwan (dot) com.

I’ve had several people email me telling me that the “comments” on my QuickBlog (https://btr.michaelkwan.com) do not work. When they try to leave a comment on a blog entry, they get a “timed out” error message. Please look into this and rectify immediately.

Dear Michael K Kwan,

Thank you for contacting Online Support.

I have tested your QuickBlog site and am able to successfully enter comments. We would suggest anyone receiving time out problems, to check the security settings of their browsers and check the general browser settings at the below address.

I have tried commenting myself and get the following error:

Your session has timed out. Please retype the word verification text and resubmit your comment.

I went to the security setting troubleshooter you indicated, I “pass” all
the tests.

Dear Michael,

Thank you for contacting Online Support. We were not able to duplicate the issue at this time. Please provide a screen shot when you receive the error again.

How to Capture a Screen Shot in Windows:

The term screen shot refers to “grabbing” a still image of the contents of your computer monitor that can be saved as a graphic file and printed, faxed, or emailed.

Screen shots are very helpful in explaining what you are seeing on your computer when working with customer support. It is often easier for you and for the support representative if you take a screen shot of what you are seeing and simply send it in.

Here is a quick step by step on how to do it:

[clipped for brevity]

Now that you have the file saved, you can attach it to an email to our support forum.

The matter has not been resolved. I am still getting this error message:

Your session has timed out. Please retype the word verification text and resubmit your comment.

The session could not possibly have timed out considering that I scrolled right down to the bottom of the article to the comment area immediately after opening the post. Please investigate further.
