It’s Thanksgiving today in Canada, and families across the country are getting together to enjoy turkey with all the fixings. Me, I’m feeling as sick as a dog, but I am thankful for the supportive dad blogger community. I posted about being sick on Facebook, a friend asked if that meant I was sick on the mic, and the ensuring dad blogger rap battle was… something else. Who said dads can’t be cool? (Don’t answer that. Just watch the video.)
This back-and-forth rap battle was mostly between me and Toronto area dad blogger Casey Palmer. Even though we’ve never met in person, I feel like he’s the kind of guy who just “gets” me. And that’s a good feeling, even if he’s clearly mistaken in thinking that the west coast isn’t the best coast.
Somewhere along the way, our rap battle expanded to include Dale Allen Berg, aka MC Suicide Mission, who you might recognize from our recent #5DadsGoWild camping trip. And then Calgary’s Dashing Dad and Vancouver’s Social Dad got involved too, the latter of whom decided to contribute a limerick for some reason. James is an… interesting chap.
Of course, this was all in good fun and none of us meant any ill will with this rap battle. In the end, it’s so important to have a sense of humor about yourself. Don’t take yourself so seriously and you’ll have way more fun. If laughter is the best medicine, then our exchange on Facebook (and via Instagram stories) was just what the doctor ordered.
Who won? Who’s next? You decide…
