I know. It feels like it hasn’t been that long since we got back from Toronto and New York, but the wanderlust is strong in the Kwan household. However, it’s not always practical (or cost-effective) to fly all the way across the continent. So, we decided to head up the road to Squamish and Whistler instead for a bit of an adventure involving trains, gondolas, illuminated forests.
It was exactly ten years ago that I was last in Whistler, attending the Telus Ski and Snowboard Festival. I even shot a video at the time (and I cringe watching it back now). And while there was no big air competition for us to watch this time around, we had plenty to do in and around Whistler Village.
I should preface this by saying that I am not at all an outdoorsy kind of person. The last time I went camping was more than 20 years ago and that was with electricity, proper showers, and teacher supervision. Fishing, hiking, kayaking, mountain biking… these aren’t usually my jam. Given the “super natural” setting of British Columbia, though, I should definitely get out more.
So, just as we got to spend a few days in Seattle last summer, I endeavor to do a little more local area exploring with the family. Where should we go next?
