Do you remember that episode of Seinfeld where George is told the ocean called and it’s running out of shrimp? He doesn’t think of “the perfect comeback” until several hours later, becoming obsessed with the chance to use it. When the opportunity strikes, he tells his colleague that “the Jerk Store called [and] they’re running out of you.” To which his coworker retorts, “What’s the difference? You’re their all-time best seller!”
What does this have to do with this week’s vlog? And do I ever make it to the Burnaby Summer Arts Festival? You’ll have to watch to find out.
Okay, so you didn’t actually have to watch to find out. It’s pretty obvious that we did eventually find our way over to Deer Lake Gallery to take in some of the fun at the Burnaby Summer Arts Festival. Artisan vendors were on display, live music was playing, and then there was the Parks Edge Paint Off, a live art competition.
Many people never really get the opportunity to watch how professional paintings are created. You know, aside from my incredible artistic talent. Maybe I should have participated.
It also helped that it was a gorgeously sunny day on Saturday. Deer Lake Park is also home to the Burnaby Farmers Market, one of a great number of farmers markets in and around the Metro Vancouver area. This is what you do when you get married. You move to the suburbs and you go to farmers markets.
Jokes aside, I love how there are so many outdoor events and festivals during the summer. Hats Off Day is always a blast. I know there’s an outdoor concert series in Coquitlam this year and live music at the Kitsilano Showboat too. So, slather on that sunscreen, throw on some shades, and enjoy everything that summer in Vancouver has to offer. Like artisanal beef jerky made from locally raised cattle. What a jerk.
What a cool festival! I wish we had something like that here, I would have loved to have participated in a live art competition. 😀 I love going to outdoor festivals and events like this. We went to a VegFest not too long ago where there were tons of different kinds of food tents– everything from Indian food to gelato!
“This is what you do when you get married. You move to the suburbs and you go to farmers markets.” I enjoyed that. Seriously, that is what happens. For couples that have been married a long time, to spice it up, we go to farmer’s markets in neighboring towns. Looks like fun.
Your famers market looks awesome compared to the one I live near. I enjoyed your post!
And this is one of several in the area. I can think of at least 6 more within an hour or so of here.
This looks like an awesome day. I love everything artsy. Looks like you enjoyed it. Maybe one day we will get to do something like this
It seems so cool !!
