Earlier this week, I came across a video where John Green discussed the legacy of things that we’ll leave behind for future generations (and historians). As great as digital cameras and digital photography have become, there’s something special about having something physical in your hands, something that will survive whatever becomes of the Internet. That’s where photo printing comes in and Amazon is making it easier than ever.
You see, we have no problem creating mountains of content these days. If you’ve got an Amazon Prime Photos account, you’re already enjoying unlimited storage for all of your pictures. The challenge then turns to how you are going to organize, curate and archive all those pictures. Amazon has launched a new photo printing service, appropriately called Amazon Prints, for exactly this purpose.
The idea is that it will be as easy for you to print off your photos of choice as it is for you to order anything else on Amazon. You simply upload your images to your Prime Photos account (even if you’re not a Prime member, you get 5 GB of free online storage), choose your print product of choice, and enjoy free delivery to your door.
Regular prints, like the ones you’d use for albums and frames, start as low as $0.09 each. They’ve also got a full range of gift items, including canvases, calendars, photo books and coffee mugs. With Father’s Day right around the corner, this could be an excellent way to express your love for the dad (or father figure) in your life.
And if you’re anything like me, then you already know how convenient Amazon can be. This new service is equally easy and efficient. Of course, you’ll need to take some time to decide exactly which of those 7,000 vacation pictures you’re actually going to print. That’s half the fun, I suppose.
To celebrate the launch of the service and to help you get started, Amazon has provided a total of six gift cards to give away: one worth $500 and five worth $100 each. Not too shabby! Enter via the Rafflecopter widget embedded below. Good luck!
