Easily one of the biggest perks to being a parent is that you get to enjoy more kid-oriented activities without the slightest hint of embarrassment. Of course I’m singing along to these Disney songs because it makes her happy. Oh, just let it go already. That was the idea, anyway, when we decided that we wanted to ride some miniature trains in this week’s vlog.
Too bad things don’t always go according to plan. I’m goin’ off the rails on a crazy train!
Just for a bit of clarification, I am no Sheldon Cooper and I have no particular affinity of the locomotive variety. It’s just that after playing tennis last weekend, I wanted to do something a little more sedentary… like sitting and enjoying the ride on some miniature trains.
Thankfully, there is no shortage of options for tiny trains in the Metro Vancouver area. There’s the Burnaby Central Railway in Confederation Park, for example, a little train that I’ve never actually ridden despite living in the neighborhood for several years. I guess I never really had the excuse until Addie showed up and got old enough to be interested in it herself.
Most of us know about the Stanley Park Train. It offers themed adventures throughout the year, like the Ghost Train during Halloween and the Bright Nights Christmas Train during the winter holidays. On a smaller and humbler scale, you can ride the Metropolis Express inside Metrotown shopping mall for a $1 donation.
Whatever floats your boat (or boosts your caboose), it is positively vital to invest in your happiness. Do what makes you happy. And making my daughter smile and giggle sure puts a smile on my face. How did you spend your weekend?
So, we are flowing… 🙂 I thought this was a great view of what happens in the real life and wasn’t disjointed at all. Although, what you call coffee makes me cringe. The one editing comment that I have after watching some of the vlogs is that you should trim the ending so that it ends with your smiling face instead of your hand.
What’s wrong with some iced coffee on a hot summer day?
It’s the “Iced” part that gets me. Iced coffee tastes like cold coffee to me and I just don’t have the taste for it. On a hot day I grew up with Gator Aide, Icee’s, Root Beer or a good brew when I got old enough to drink.
I’ve never gotten used to iced coffee, in fact I ended up with a partial cup of cold coffee because of playing Monopoly with the kids. I accidentally took a sip and just got that cringe feeling. When I watched the vlog I got a flashback.
