Kicking off this week’s speedlink of travel stories, we’ve got Steffani Cameron outlining how she plans to protect herself during her upcoming epic adventure. She plans on doing a little globetrotting, so she needs to ensure not only her personal safety (and the safety of her belongings), but Steffani needs to also think seriously about medical coverage and her power-of-attorney too. And I thought staying connected was the biggest concern!
What about transitioning to a wholly new environment that’s also kind of familiar? That’s what Ray Ebersole wanted to do in upgrading to Windows 10 this past week, but he was faced with an unfortunate activation error. The cryptic error code “0xC004F034” informed him that it could not read his registration code. The real problem? It’s just a “busy signal” for the servers and all you have to do is keep clicking the “Activate” button until you get through. Good job, Microsoft.
You don’t have to fly halfway around the world to have a good time. As Misty Pratt of Kids in the Capital illustrates, you can have a lot of fun in your hometown too. In her case, that’s Ottawa and one of her family’s recent adventures took them to Mooney’s Bay Park. They frolicked on the beach, the kids enjoyed the large play structure, and the family indulged in a pleasant picnic in the shade under a tree. This sounds like a great urban respite!
Heading back to our side of the country, we’ve got “This West Coast Mommy” Olivia Lasting giving us a glimpse into the new dinosaur exhibit currently being hosted at Science World. This immediately reminds me of when I got to visit the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology in the Alberta Badlands a few years ago. I can’t wait until my little girl is old enough to get into dinosaurs and science too!
We wrap up this week’s collection of blog posts with a rather sobering note from Eric Williams. In a deeply moving post, he offers insight into his personal battles with anxiety and depression. Many of us can feel powerless and inadequate at times. We just have to remember that we are not alone in this plight, nor should we be. Reach out for help and recognize we all have our demons, even if we don’t acknowledge them in a public forum.
Thanks for the link Michael. I find it incredulous that a major tech giant can’t have enough activation servers online to handle traffic for a rollout of a major OS release.
When you tout Azure and its unlimited storage wouldn’t you think they would take advantage of it?
