A few weeks ago, I published a blog post with everything you need to know about the International Summer Night Market for 2014. One of the most notable changes was the introduction of a $2 admission fee, though you now get free parking instead. This is the night market in Richmond, just behind the Home Depot near the Knight Street Bridge.
The Summer Night Market was offering free admission to anyone who liked their Facebook page and this past Victoria Day long weekend was the last chance you had to cash in on that promotion. So, we went.
I fully understand that it’s still very early in the night market season and I haven’t had the opportunity to visit the other Richmond Night Market yet, but Summer Night Market on Monday night was a lot quieter than I remember it being. There were still people, to be sure, but there were also quite a few empty stalls and a relative shortage of vendors in general. Several of the food stalls were offering Victoria Day long weekend deals, some discounting their offerings by over 50%.
Embedded below is a walkthrough video that I shot at the Summer Night Market using the PAPAGO GoLife Extreme action camera. The hope for the merchants is that business will pick up as the summer progresses, but I fear that admission fee will turn many people away.
Truth be told, I was more interested in your review of PAPAGO Go life Extreme action cam.
I think it will be suitable to bring along to document my endurance run adventures!
That night market looks great! Food looks good. Wish we had something like this in Florida.
