Every Wednesday, I share several blog posts that I have found around the Internet. While I certainly appreciate that you are reading Beyond the Rhetoric, I also recognize that you want to read some other great content too. That’s where this speedlink comes into play.
First, we take a stroll with Tyler Ingram over to Moraine Lake, Alberta. This picturesque setting in the Rocky Mountains is a fantastic place for photos, as clearly demonstrated by the picture above. I remember visiting Banff National Park last year and it was stellar.
Next, Raul Pacheco-Vega reminds us of a very simple, yet very difficult life lesson: I am human, I’m fallible, I’m imperfect… but I’m OK with that. As much as we strive toward perfection, we also have to recognize our limits and lead our lives accordingly. Don’t be so hard on yourself and set your boundaries.
Keeping healthy is one Nick Ramsay. He recently got back into running. In fact, he’s starting to get into competitive running too, setting a goal to do a 10km course in under 45 minutes. He’s learning techniques, wearing toe socks, and keeping himself motivated with RunKeeper.
Many people, Tris Hussey included, once believed that multiple monitors improved your productivity. Now, Tris is starting to learn the value of a single monitor. This helps you focus on a single task a little more easily, not getting distracted by this notification or that. I’m working from a single monitor myself, but I have a habit of splitting it into at least two windows.
And finally, Damien provides us with one more life lesson: do your thing, whatever it is. We all have our special gifts. The key is figuring out what they are and then figuring out how we can use our gifts to contribute back to society at large. I hope that my written word has made the world a better place, even if only infinitesimally.
Thanks for the shout-out, Michael.
