That’s right, folks! It’s time for another contest here on Beyond the Rhetoric and, realistically, it’s better described as a giveaway than a contest. I’m not going to make you compete against one another on some crazy task; instead, it’ll take all of five seconds for you to be eligible to win the prize.
Before we describe how to enter the giveaway, perhaps I should describe the prizes that are up for grabs. This is a “solopreneur” prize pack that is best suited for people who own small businesses, work from home, or have ambitions to lead a more entrepreneurial lifestyle. If you’re a freelance writer, real estate agent, consultant, graphic designer, or anything remotely similar, this prize pack will probably appeal to you.
Up for grabs are:
- Google AdWords advertising credit (value: $100)
- One sponsored review on Beyond the Rhetoric (value: $50)
- One .tel domain registration (value: $20)
- One hour of meeting room use at The Network Hub (value: $20)
- One 2GB USB flash drive from ProMag (value: $10)
All in all, this prize pack has a total value of $200! You might recognize a couple of items from when I was the featured speaker at Freelance Camp. The flash drive came during my time in Taiwan for Computex Taipei 2010.
So, how do you enter? Simple. Just leave a comment on this blog post. You can talk about your experience as a solopreneur, how any of the prize pack items may help in your endeavors, or whatever else you want. There are no real restrictions here; just keep it PG-13.
The contest is open to anyone in the world, so long as they have reasonable access to regular postal service. The Network Hub is located in Vancouver, so people outside of that area may not find the meeting room voucher as useful. If you win, feel free to let me know and I can send it along to a Vancouver entrepreneur of your choice.
Entries will remain open until the end of the month. I’ll announce and contact the winner on Wednesday, September 1, 2010. Good luck!
How generous of you, Michael!
I would like to get a Google AdWords advertising credit because I am starting to promote my services online now. I have never used Google Adwords before, so this will be a great opportunity to learn about it.
Well Michael, the one thing that would be nice would be the 2Gig Flash drive as a portable drive for moving some files on teachers laptops.
The sponsored review on Beyond the Rhetoric would be a very valuable prize!
Hi Michael,
this contest look really good đ let me see you get
– Google AdWords advertising credit (value: $100)
– One sponsored review on Beyond the Rhetoric (value: $50)
– One .tel domain registration (value: $20)
– One hour of meeting room use at The Network Hub (value: $20)
– One 2GB USB flash drive from ProMag (value: $10)
I think just being review by you should be a HUGE price ;P
OK I’m finish with eh suck up part, but here why I’m interested in your contest.
For the past year and a half I’m been looking, in the shadow, this industry that is the affiliate marketing and found out that practically no one here (living in (Montreal, Quebec) are doing it in french đ
So I’ve order a design company to build a website (still in progress) and decide to jump in.
I figure out that the 100$ of Adwords would be really helpful when my site is open.
I didn’t quit my job (got a pretty good one) but I figure out that if I can work my way up in that business I can spend more time with my little boy and his sister (coming end of September).
Your review will give me the visibility for that enterprise I’m building. Being review by some one that I read on JohnChow, and here, is a opportunity by itself.
The network hub is the less interesting item in your contest, sorry đ But you could always keep it and give it to the best second đ
The .tel domain registration and the USB key are good candy too. My girlfriend would like the USB Key and I could register a .tel domain for my new site đ
Thanks
Ooh Network Hub. Been curious about that place.
Is it too tacky to have been quiet for so long only to surface with a comment on your contest post?
Of course it is! So if I am chosen as the winner you can count on the gifts being re-gifted, wait…isn’t that tacky too? đ
I’d keep the .tel domain but notellmo.tel is already taken.
I had the entrepreneurial spirit thrust upon me, in the form of a mass lay off. Nothing, and I mean nothing, motivates better than neccessity. So I picked up, registered a business, got my GST (Now HST grrrr…) number, and got to work.
I’ve managed to survive off of contract living, expand my client base, earn good money, and roll with the punches. That said, I know that there will be rougher times ahead, and that staying one up on the competition is critical in any field.
I believe that marketing is the #1 overlooked consideration of any solo-ist. With the #2 overlooked aspect being market research (Should you really REALLY open that store that sells ONLY Pepsi branded refrigerator magnets?).
Your prize pack here could give one of these hopefuls the exposure that they so badly need.
The google adwords thing is great. And the full on review is the piece de resistance! Kudos to you for holding this type of contest!
Plenty more deserving than I, but I would probably keep the Adwords credit and pass along the other goodies to other good peoples.
Not gonna bother with a full post here.. Free stuff is good stuff. Good free stuff is amazing stuff.
You know what’s awesome about being a solopreneur? Meetings are really quick.
I suppose having employee’s means one is not a solopreneur? đ
Here’s to hoping I win that .tel domain card đ
Though, I’m not a solopreneur yet some of these prizes will definitely be of use to help me get there.
I can use the adwords voucher to advertise my blog and promote affiliate offers, I can use a .tel domain to further expand my network, anyone could use a 2gb flash drive for on the go storage, and a review from you would give me more publicity and credibilty since you’re a professional seasoned writer.
Being in the US, I’d have no use for the The Network Hub pass and would give it away accordingly.
Hope to win!
Adwords would be great for promoting our studio.
That said, I’m keen on helping women entrepreneurs and would pass along some of the prizes accordingly.
