Every Wednesday, I gather a collection of blog posts that caught my eye in the previous week. There’s no real requirement to get mention in these speedlinks; just write something interesting on a (largely non-commercial) blog, let me know about it, and you’re automatically in the running for a free plug. Pretty simple, really, and it helps if you’re connected with me on the social networks like Facebook and Twitter.
WhatleyDude is a great example of this. We don’t really know each other, but we’re both a part of the Nokia N97 mini tour. I did the West Coast arm and he’s doing the East Coast arm. Too bad he can’t figure out how to use his hotel room coffee machine. He can’t figure out printers and fax machines either. Nokia cell phones, however, are just fine.
Roland Tanglao is a veteran of the Flickr environment. In fact, over the course of the last six years, he has posted no fewer than 50,000 photos. Of these, over 35,000 pictures were shot from a camera phone, starting with the Nokia 7610 from way back in June 2004. That’s a lot of shooting!
Ed Lau isn’t all that involved in the world of Facebook, but he seems to have expressed some interest in The Social Network. This is a movie about Mark Zuckerberg and the founding of Facebook. It has some rather controversial beginnings to go with its current privacy controversies. The official trailer is out and I hear a version with more colorful language is around too. Red band?
The Urban Muse reminds all the freelance writers in the audience that there are alternatives to the magazine market. Get social and try your hand at writing ebooks, greeting cards, and website material. Other suggestions include essay anthologies, radio, and even catalogue copywriting.
Dragon Blogger provides a basic tutorial on how to properly format Twitter replies. It’s important to interact with other Twitter users, but you also want to maximize the visibility of the tweets you direct at some of these folks. Do know how to ensure your tweet shows up in the “home” feed, as well as the “mentions” feed?
cool, thanks for the plug if anybody has nokia cameraphone questions please send them my way!
Thanks for including my article in your roundup, 50,000 photos uploaded to Flickr, that is a huge amount for a single user.
