Well, it’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for. As you may remember, I launched the Some Say Contest last Thursday, encouraging Beyond the Rhetoric readers to provide their best “some say” introduction for the Stig from Top Gear.
For those of you who aren’t familiar, Top Gear is a hugely popular car show that airs on the BBC. Though it is a British show, its appeal stretches all around to globe to automotive enthusiasts from all around the world. I even got kicked in the chest when I (incorrectly) told Ed that the show was getting cancelled.
The Stig is a masked character who appears on the show and he is their team racing driver. He is the official driver who takes the vehicles around the test track to see which is the fastest. We don’t know his identity, but we are provided humorous hints as to his identity. That’s where the “Some Say” segment comes into play.
I think it’s a great segment and I wanted to capture the creativity of the Beyond the Rhetoric community. That’s how the contest came to be and that’s why I’m giving away $150 worth of stuff, including Friends with Benefits, a stereo Bluetooth adapter, and an iPod/iPhone charging kit. So, who won?
The winner is Lesley Chang. Here is her winning entry:
“Some say he is the most interesting man in the world, and even the most interesting man in the world agrees. Stay thirsty, my friends.”
Congrats! Use the contact form to send me your mailing address and I’ll get it sent out to you right away.
I’d like to extend my thanks to everyone who participated. Don’t worry if you didn’t win, since I’m bound to host another contest soon. In the meantime, check out this video compilation of “Some Say” quotes from Top Gear. Who is the Stig?
Congrat’s Lesley, I was hoping for the Dot Com love with Ed and the wake up call… 🙂
Whoa…whoa…whoa…you’re a cool dude and all, Ray but please don’t hope for Dot Com love with Ed…
LOL….Nice come back.
Congrats Lesley! Enjoy your prizes!
Congratulations Lesley! Shame I missed the competition, I love Top Gear, even met some of the cast once 🙂
