Even though I have a certain level of freedom when it comes to determining my work schedule, I still adhere mostly to a conventional work week. The vast majority of what I do is achieved Monday through Friday, taking Saturday and Sunday as days of rest with a relatively minimal amount of work being accomplished.
One of the things that I’ve always valued dearly is my sleep. Some people are willing to sacrifice those precious hours of rest so that they can go out and do what they need (or want) to do. For these people, they may be able to survive on less than six hours of sleep, but that’s not for me. This is especially true on Sundays when I know that I don’t have much in terms of obligations. I can choose to work less if that’s what I desire.
So, while I could expand this blog post quite a bit more, I think I’m going to draw it to a close here and turn the mic over to the Beyond the Rhetoric readers. On Sundays, do you sleep in and take it as a day of rest? What does sleeping in mean to you? 10am? Noon? 4pm?
I know that setting your own hours is a great thing, then on the flip side can be your worst enemy. Getting the proper amount of sleep is important, which is something I don’t get enough of.
I work two jobs, average 14-16 hours a day for the normal 5 days, and I also work Saturdays for 8 hours. That means that Sunday is the only day that I don’t work at all, so I sleep in a few extra hours until around 8am. That varies depending on my four year old and my 6 month old.
I don’t think you should sleep in more than a few hours longer than your normal schedule. It messes with your body, hurting your normal routine in my opinion.
I’ve always envy people who can sleep in till noon time or even way past it.
As much as I want to, I can’t sleep in. I think my body clock is set to early morning rush hour. Even on weekends & public holidays, I’ll be awake by 8am.
