As a professional freelance writer with an interest in technology, it only makes sense that I should be staying on top of the latest trends and having a good idea of what’s just beyond the horizon. That’s partly why I attended the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year. I was able to hang out with Blendtec and visit Albert Einstein. Well, it’s time to hit the road once again and this time it’s off to Los Angeles for the E3 Expo.
The E3 Expo is a trade show and convention focused solely on the video game market. It’s at shows like these that we get to play the latest games, check out upcoming demos, and learn of any new announcements. A few years ago, Nintendo took the opportunity to announce the Nintendo Wii at E3. Based on its motion-sensing success, we should not be at all surprised at Shigeru Miyamoto’s influence on the sector. When he comes up with something fun, we all want it.
In terms of what we can expect from E3 2009, I hear that Microsoft may have a portable Xbox (which may be the same thing as the recently announced Zune HD). There will also be a working demo of The Beatles: Rock Band and possibly Guitar Hero 5. There are tons of rumors floating around about a new PSP, Final Fantasy XIII, Call of Duty, and so much more. It’d be impossible to mention everything in this space.
Expect to find my E3 Expo 2009 coverage on Futurelooks and Mobile Magazine in the days to follow. In the meantime, feel free to watch the GT preview video below.
Oh, and if you are in the LA area, feel free to hit me up on Twitter if you want to get together for lunch or dinner. I think we’re meeting up with Danielle at some point and you’re more than welcome to join us.
Have fun. Video gaming is not on my list of things to do just because I way too much other stuff going on, but I look forward to hearing what’s up in the video world.
Have fun at E3 Expo, I’m so jealous!
