On a whim, I acquired the domain DotComPho.com several months back and now it seems like the website is starting to develop a bit of a life. It’s still rocking the default WordPress theme and will need some serious redesign work (as well as some podcast integration), but it seems like our local group of online entrepreneurs will be putting together a video every week, opening up our weekly lunch to the masses.
We missed out on our weekly lunch last week, because we were up in Whistler for the Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival. In lieu of a lunch gathering, we just poked fun at Stephen Fung as he attempted to ride a giant Schick razor. Well, we were all back in Richmond yesterday, so it was time for another edition of Dot Com Pho!
The crazy thing is that this was quite possibly the largest dot com pho gathering to date. On most weeks, we have about eight people or so. The usual suspects would include people like John Chow and Leo Chiang, but this week we were joined by Gary and Lisa Jones of BlueFur, as well as their kids Anika and Matthew. Rainer Schmoll of ThinkReferrals showed up with his son Matthew as well. Two Matts for the price of one.
All in all, there were about sixteen people in attendance! Pretty soon, we’ll be able to take over the entire Pho Lan restaurant. For this edition of Dot Com Pho, we get the official pronunciation guide to the word “pho” from Pho Lan owner Lan. Yes, he named the restaurant after himself. Also in this episode, we discuss the Macbook Pro, spooning, and UFC.
In addition to being the biggest Dot Com Pho to date, this week’s lunch was also the first one to be sponsored by a few companies. If you would like your product to be featured in a future edtion of Dot Com Pho, please use the contact form and we’ll be sure to work something out.
Dude I want my free Samsung monitor!!! GIVE IT BACK LEO!
Come and get it bitch!
For some reason, I have that Spoon Man song stuck in my head…
“Spoonman! Michael Kwan’s head in his hands!
Save me! Stuck with Ed and Leo Chiang!
Save me!”
😆
Damn song!
