Way back near the beginning of March, ScrewAttack teased us with a list of the top 20 best games on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), only to reveal a video that listed #20 through to #11. And then they left us waiting for the rest of the list. Our wait is now over, because Stuttering Craig is back with the top 10 best SNES games of all-time.
I’m actually a little disappointed with this list, not really because the top ten is so heavy on RPGs (Jon Lee was right in his prediction), but because the list was so light on fighting games. Sure, Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat made the first half of the list, but no fighting game in the top ten? What about the various incarnations of Street Fighter II?
UPDATE: For whatever reason, the video has been pulled from their site. I’ll update this post when and if they put it back up again.
UPDATE #2: And the video is back. I guess GameTrailers and ScrewAttack had a bit of a hiccup there.
I expected RPGs but not that many!
I agree with Zelda, Chrono Trigger and Mario RPG. Haven’t played the others to really give a good judgement on them.
Not sure if I agree with Metriod 3 though… it was good but #1? ehhhhhhhh….
I agree totally with #1. Such a fantastic and absorbing game. I also agree with some of the RPG’s in there. I was surprised at the lack of beat em ups, but if you’re treating it as “Top 10 SNES games”, then it’s understandible that SF2 isn’t on the list.
Then again, in the 20-11, Killer Instinct & Mortal Kombat made the list, so I’d put SF2 in there, probably third or so.
