Beyond the Rhetoric carries a tagline indicating that this blog is about freelance writing, personal development, and making money. I make posts about things like preparing for vacation as a freelance writer and why real dot com moguls still need the real world. Interestingly enough, these typically aren’t the posts that drive the most traffic to this blog. Then again, I have countless other posts on other subjects that aren’t directly related to blogging or the business of freelance writing.
Despite a Google PageRank smackdown, Beyond the Rhetoric still gets a decent trickle of traffic from the world’s largest search engine, but it’s largely not for terms that you would expect. I haven’t been heavily marketing this blog by any stretch of the imagination, so it’s perfectly understandable that the visitors who arrive here are a bit at random. They could be searching for just about anything, stumbling their way into a post buried deep within the archives. Hopefully after reading that article, they’ll stick around and maybe even subscribe to the full feed (which is also available via email).
So, what keyword search terms drive search engine users my way?
Some of these I’ve come to expect. I know that some of my posts on the Richmond Night Market, like this post on food and this visitor’s guide, have become a great source of information, seeing how their official website sucks.
Where I am a little surprised is when it comes to terms like Internet Reversi and Brent Butt’s wife. Maybe I should focus some attention on Guitar Hero DS too.
What strange keywords and keyword phrases are driving people your way? I’d love to hear about them through the comment form below.
