I’m stumped. I tried putting in a mini-USB but that was a touch on the big side. Any computer gurus out there want to help identify this for me? Much thanks!
Don’t recognize it off-hand, but then so many of the current plugs looks so similar, and there are proprietary ones also. What is the type, brand and model of the device it is on; that might be what we could use to figure it out.
There is two different mini-USB’s, check out the pic here. The mini you tried, did it look more like the black one in this pic? If so, I think you might need the mini-A instead.

It’s on one of those generic iPod nano knockoffs.

Then I think it will be a custom made plug (for the device) you may need to go to Manufacturer site.
It is a pac man ghost connector 😉
Not seen such a plug…may its made for the specific device..you may have to order it.
