Okay, okay, okay. I promise this is the last “look back at 2018” post. We’ve already looked at the BTR year in numbers, like the number of books I read (33) and blog posts I published (203). We’ve also looked at some of my favorite things from 2018, like my favorite album (Black Panther OST). And now, one year later, we look at the weekly Hump Day Haikus series.
As a quick refresher, I’ve been trying to pursue some sort of creative challenge the last couple of years. In 2017, I wanted to post (at least) one photo to Instagram each and every day. That was the #kwan365 photo challenge. For 2018, I decided on a a weekly haiku series. Hump Day Haikus were published on on my Instagram account every Wednesday. I also shared some, on occasion, on Facebook and/or Twitter.
Some are more pensive, and some involve dad jokes. I guess that’s a reasonably accurate depiction of what rattles between my ears. Maybe you caught a few along the way. Maybe some slipped past the algorithm for you. In any case, if you want to take a look back at all 52 haikus, they’ve been republished here for posterity. I’ve broken up the mega collage above into the six smaller collections below.

Now that we’re officially in 2019, I haven’t yet decided on a creative challenge for the year. I’m also reconsidering some of the content I post here on Beyond the Rhetoric. The Sunday Snippet series started way back in August 2009 with a quote from Paulo Coelho, for example. Maybe it’s time to shake things up a little. Or maybe I can go bi-weekly for the quotes.
