So, you already know what I’m into these days in terms of TV shows, music, video games and podcasts. What about the stuff I actually make? There are the blog posts here on Beyond the Rhetoric, of course, as well as the weekly vlog, but my day job is that of a freelance writer. Want to know what I’ve been writing lately?

I’m a little surprised that, as far as I can tell, the last time I’ve done such a round-up was four years ago!

LoveToKnow

While I mostly edit the work of other LoveToKnow contributors, I do write my own original content for the site every now and then too. Lately, I’ve been trying to pick up topics that are a little more fun.

  • I got to flex my “dad joke” muscle a little in coming up with 130 purrfect cat pun names for your kitty, with such notables as Clawdia Sniffer, Tabby Maguire, Meowley Cyrus, and J.R.R. Tallkitten. Cringe all you want. This is gold, Jerry. Gold!
  • Tired of the same old idle small talk at casual get-togethers? Check out my list of brilliant questions to ask your friends. How much money would you need to be offered to skydive naked? What if it were broadcast on national television?

MEGATechNews

This is the site where I do most of my techie type stuff, including reviewing the latest gadgets and thingamabobs.

  • Big name AAA titles like Mario Tennis Aces get all the attention on the Nintendo Switch. Humbler indie titles deserve your attention too, like the Mega Man X-inspired 20XX. The procedural levels mean every playthrough is unique.
  • It may or may not shock you to hear that BlackBerry still makes phones. Sort of. And the recently launched BlackBerry KEY2 still has a physical QWERTY keyboard if you’re into that sort of thing.

John Chow dot Com

Would you believe that I’ve been writing for John (both on his main site and on his now defunct tech site) for almost as long as I’ve been writing professionally? These days, it’s mostly about making money online and what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur.

  • We say that we want massive mansions and extravagant vacations, but why? I try to get to the bottom of why and reveal what truly motivates us to do what we do.
  • I enjoy analogies. They help us understand more complex concepts with a different kind of perspective. And so that’s why I chose to explain how to run an online business by describing that time I almost stranded my family on the side of the road.

Blogging Tips

A site for professional bloggers, aspired and established alike, Blogging Tips is aptly named for the kind of content it contains. I mostly do reviews there.

  • If you’re looking for a quick and affordable way to get some light web development and design type work done, Ask Lorem could be the ticket. It’s like Fiverr without having to hunt for the right person for the gig.
  • Want a better way to organize and display your blog content? Posts Table Pro generates dynamic, customizable tables for your WordPress site.

Words, Words, Words…

So, that’s a little glimpse into my “day job” and what I’ve been writing lately. I hope these articles have come a long way since I first started publishing content nearly 20 years ago!
