At the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show

The beginning of the year means different things to different people. Some see it as a fresh start, trying new things and breaking new ground. It might mean the aftermath of all that holiday binge eating (and binge spending). For those in the technology industry, though, January has always meant the same thing: the arrival of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

I’ve been attending CES for a number of years now, getting a first-hand look at the cutting edge of all kinds of gadgetry and tech. It is here that I soak in overly massive “beyond HD” televisions. It is here that I get enveloped in high-end car audio. Indeed, it is here that I find computers that double as beer kegs. If it has to do with consumer electronics, including physical Angry Birds games, it’s going to be showcased at CES.

It’s going to be a busy week for me, as there really is no way that I’ll be able to see everything that this massive technology trade show has to offer. Having it hosted in a city like Las Vegas just adds to the distraction (and lack of sleep), but such is the life of a freelance tech writer.

Even you happen to be in Las Vegas this week, either for CES or for Affiliate Summit West, don’t hesitate to hit me up on Twitter if you want to meet up in real life. It’s a massive show and it’s easy to get lost in the mix, so that’s why it’s even more important to make those personal connections.

And don’t worry if you can’t make it out to Vegas either. I hope to host another swag bag giveaway upon my return, assuming that the various vendors and manufacturers are friendly enough to provide me with said swag. Free is good, right?
