Westin Taipei Hotel

Last week, I provided you with a brief video tour of our hotel room at Forte Orange on Linsen North Road in Taipei. Since Stephen left and Susanne arrived, I’ve packed up and moved over to the Westin Taipei Hotel on Nanjing East Road. At the request of readers on this blog, I am now providing you with a video tour of our new hotel room.

While the Forte Orange room was meant to be an economical workhorse of a hotel room for us to cover Computex, the room at Westin is decidedly different. We get a much larger and more luxurious room at the Westin, but we sacrifice complimentary in-room Internet access. That costs $15 a day for sub-par speeds. The good news is that there is free Wi-Fi in the “public areas” of the hotel, including just outside our room.

Covering a trade show certainly isn’t a vacation, so I’m glad that we are able to take more of a holiday this week to do the tourist thing. As a small business owner, there is never a “good” time to take time off. You just have to force yourself to do it, even if you still take on an extremely lightened workload to accommodate. And enjoying the luxuries of the Westin is a nice perk to boot. It’s good that we were able to get an industry rate on the room, as I’m sure the regular price for the Westin is more than the Forte Orange.

On a side note, we got a “free” upgrade to an “executive” room at the Westin, so this video may not be necessarily indicative of a “standard” room. Bonus!
