What's Up Wednesdays: Innovation and Doing

Every Wednesday, I look around for some good blog posts to share with the Beyond the Rhetoric readership. Most weeks, these collections can be quite varied in subject matter and this week is no exception. Enjoy!

Eric Garay may be best known for his computer-leaning ways, but he can also get political from time to time. For instance, he’s saying that the White House isn’t support American innovation. They’re spending far too much money on military and not investing nearly enough in education. This is even more powerful, since Eric is ex-military.

Darren Barefoot gives us an opportunity to consider alternative transportation methods. More specifically, he compares car sharing networks in Vancouver. Sometimes, public transit isn’t sufficient, so which car share offers the best value? Modo, Zipcar, or Car2go?

Ray Ebersole reminds us that you have to do something if you want to accomplish anything. You can see this in some of the blogging milestones that he has reached. For example, even though we’re not even halfway through 2011, he has already broken his record for most visits in a calendar year. Perhaps the biggest factor in this success is the increase frequency of posts on his blog.

Zac Johnson echoes the sentiment expressed by David Brinkley, but in a completely different context. He reminds us that haters gonna hate and a prime example of this is Rebecca Black. Her “Friday” video has over three million “dislikes” on YouTube, but it is almost through this hate that she’s been able to become such a viral success.

Rebecca Bollwitt is the hyper-local blogger covering all things in the 604. As such, “Miss 604” has a post up with many of the June events in Vancouver. The Canucks (and Canuck-related goodness) top the list, of course, but don’t forget about Eat Vancouver, Dragon Boat Festival, Car Free Day, and more.
