Sunday Snippet: Art Linkletter

“Things turn out best for the people who make the best out of the way things turn out.”

Have you ever encountered a co-worker who won’t stop complaining about his or her job? Or how about the student that is constantly complaining about not having enough of a social life, because he or she is stuck studying all the time? We’ve all been there. Well, believe it or not, life shouldn’t be easy; if it was, it’d be awfully boring.

Art Linkletter is perhaps best known as the host of a couple popular television shows: House Party for 25 years and People Are Funny for 19 years. He also went on to interview a number of funny children in Kids Say the Darndest Things, becoming quite the treasured Canadian and American radio and television personality. Linkletter knew to make the most of any situation.

It’s very rare for things to go the way you plan. That’s just the way life is. The easy way out would be to complain about your situation, but that doesn’t change anything for the better. Instead, the onus is always on you to start doing something if you’re not happy with your current circumstances.

Yes, luck certainly plays its role, but it’s not something you can control. Focus on what you can control and shift your perspective accordingly. Things will turn out best, as Art puts it, if you make the best of whatever situation arises.

If life throws you lemons, why not add in some vodka and charge $10 or more at the club for your premium drink?
