Sunday Snippet: Harrison Ford

“We all have big changes in our lives that are more or less a second chance.”

He might be better known for cracking his whip as Indiana Jones or piloting the Millennium Falcon as Han Solo, but Harrison Ford has plenty of wisdom to share with us as well. After all, he has played the President of the United States during his career too. (I wonder if Barack Obama derived any inspiration from those portrayals.)

In the quote above, he reminds us that there are different ways to interpret bad news. You life can undergo a massive overhaul that may see you losing your job, moving across the country, or otherwise changing your life circumstances. It is up to you to figure how to capitalize on these changes so that they can work in your favor. Can you now pursue a long forgotten passion?

You have to remember that the world owes you nothing and that you hold your fate in your hands. Life is what you make of it, regardless of how many lemons it may throw at you along the way.

As we head into a new decade, we are once again faced with a new opportunity to make the most of what we have. The official motto of my alma mater is “Tuum est,” which translates as “It is yours” or “It is up to you.” That is particularly apt, don’t you think?

    1. Harrison Ford is amazing and I cant wait for the Indiana Jones 5 movie.

    2. Ray Ebersole says:

You can only affect what you are doing yourself. You can not affect others and what they do unless you are there to shine a light to your point of view. Sometimes they don’t see the light or your light isn’t strong enough to shift the boat toward your lighthouse. So, if something doesn’t go your way, just jump on the boat and try to affect it as it moves in another direction.

It may be the right direction.
