Top Thinker Contest on Beyond the Rhetoric

Do you have something on your mind? Do you have some feedback to share? Then have you been participating in my Top Thinker (and Best Thought) Contest?

As you may recall, I launched this contest near the beginning of the month, encouraging visitors of this blog to leave comments to their heart’s delight. In return, I’m offering great prize packs to the person who leaves the most comments in February 2009 and to the person who leaves the “best” comment during the month as well. That’s two prize bundles, but you have the opportunity to win both. The total value of the two prize packs (read about them here) is about US$200. Not too shabby, I’d say.

So, how has the contest been progressing thus far? Let’s have a look at the leaderboard for top thinkers (the people who leave the most comments).

In most months leading up to this contest, Nick has always been the sole possessor of the top spot. Looking at this leaderboard, it looks like our friend Nick has himself some competition. Ray and Chris are actually beating Nick at this point, and Vik and Betshopboy are right in the running as well. It’s going to be a tight race to the end. Remember, it’s not too late to get involved. Use the comment form at the end of each post and voice your thoughts.

Even if you don’t think you’ll be able to leave the same quantity of comments as these guys, you can compete on the quality side for the Best Thought side of the contest. If you leave but a single comment on this blog this month, you have a chance to win. Just make sure that it’s insightful, interesting, funny, valuable, or otherwise entertaining.

Good luck for the rest of the month. I’m looking forward to what you guys have to say.

Something insightful, thought provoking, and witty. (haw)

    2. Ray Ebersole says:

Well, it’s a race to the finish.

I do think that this actually gets a person involved in discussing issues, is good for networking (currently adding Michael, Nick and Chris to my Blogroll) and helps with my thinking skills when I write.

      • Vik Dulat says:

Great point. You can never network too much.

      • Nick says:

I actually just noticed the incoming link today (thanks by the way) before reading this comment and recognized the name, but could seem to remember from where. I can certainly see myself visiting from time to time now that I’ve been there :)

I agree that it’s good for all three of the reasons you mentioned as well.

        • Ray Ebersole says:

Thanks! I saw your hit on the site today. Recognized the web address from linking the site. I hope to get some discussions going on my site especially with all the cuts to education recently in my state. Our district had to cut $40 million from our coming budget. That is at least 100 – 200 positions in the classrooms.

        • Nick says:

Yikes, that’s a heck of a cut! With current events like that, it shouldn’t be terribly difficult to get some activity on your site…just be sure to market to the masses :)

    3. betshopboy says:

This is the first time in months I’m seeing our friend Nick getting push out of the top spot and encountering some fierce competition on your leaderboard.

The race is truly on and it is going down to the wire!

    4. Vik Dulat says:

Don’t worry Vik will be making a comeback. Just busy with school at the moment. I will be in contention until the end. Good luck everyone.

    5. Ruby Web says:

A contest is always a great way to spark interest, and this should lead to some lively debate in this case. It is a bit late in the innings, but I feel that I can try to make an impact in this contest.

    6. Nick says:

Just remember who comments when there’s no prizes involved :)

I’ll try and get back in the game, just been focusing on some other stuff a bit much lately.
