GI Joe: Rise of Cobra Teaser Trailer

February 1st, 2009 by Michael Kwan

It’s Super Bowl Sunday! As the Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers hit the field for football’s biggest prize (this isn’t as I predicted), many people will be glued to their televisions for another reason. Super Bowl commercials are among the most expensive in the world with companies paying millions of dollars to get a thirty-second spot.

Over at Mobile Magazine, I highlighted one of the Super Bowl commercials for the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, but I think this ad spot is much more exciting. And possibly better than some of the Super Bowl ads we’ve seen in the past.

Here is the first official (teaser) trailer for GI Joe: Rise of Cobra. It hits theaters on August 7, 2009. Go Joe!

Not enough action for you? Then check out this positively epic trailer for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the highly anticipated sequel to Michael Bay’s first take on the Transformers universe. The giant robot action is way over the top and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Transformers 2 opens June 26, 2009.

Oh, on a side note, I think that Pittsburgh’s defence will win the game for them against Arizona (Polamalu!), but they won’t cover the -7 point spread. My Super Bowl prediction last year held up, so let’s see how I do this year.

Awwwwwww the transformers one got DMCA’d.

Just found another version. Quality isn’t as good, but you get the idea. Watch it while you can!

On a side note, they’re saying that the giant robot at the end is just ONE Constructicon and not the full Devastator. Imagine how big Devastator will be if it is the combination of 5-9 Constructicons!

    2. I have to admit that I am waaaay more excited for G.I.Joe!!

    3. Stephen says:

My crush for Scarlet is back :)

      Yo Joe!

    4. Stephen says:

Also, Leo mentioned a while ago that he was filming a scene for it in Mission so look for big bald Asian dude with tattoos.

I never really had an interest in G.I. Joe, but with Christopher Eccleston in the movie, maybe I will. It’ll be interesting to see him as a villain.

    6. EricG says:

Wow. GI Joe looks like it’s at least something new. I love a new movie with an original concept, especially if they have good actors.

How much more epic can Transformers be? There’s a US-Automaker bail out of money just right there with all that CG. I didn’t see any Fords or GMs in that trailer. *evil laugh*

    7. Nick says:

Judging from the commercials during the game, there are several movies that I am interested in seeing that will be coming out!

Hey, you were right on who won AND the spread :)

    8. Ruby Web says:

Wow, it looks awesome! I’ll go check it out when It’s on circuit.

    10. I’ve never really been into the whole Transformers saga, but that GI Joe trailer peaked my interest. I just can’t picture Dennis Quaid in a serious role anymore after the fluff he’s starred in lately.

      • Ray Ebersole says:

I love the leap from Anime to the big screen, but it’s just not the same.

        • I’ve never been a fan of Anime, but apparently it’s absolutely huge from a marketer’s stand point. I was told a few years ago to market Anime items on eBay from wholesale, but the competition was out of control.

        • Ray Ebersole says:

The kids love Anime and that’s who they market to. As a father of a 4 year old I know what marketing can do to a child, and my wallet.

        • Nick says:

It’s not just kids, while I’ve never been into it I know several “adults” who are waaay into anime…I’m not just talking about animated TV shows though, but the Japanese anime that is actually geared towards adults and you probably wouldn’t want your 4 year-old watching.

        • I remember being marketed to as a kid Saturday morning while watching cartoon. Back then it was lego and the nurf guns. I think I have those guns around here somewhere still.

        • Michael Kwan says:

Nick: A lot of anime/manga in Japan is definitely geared toward an older audience. Four-year-olds couldn’t possibly understand the complexities of something like Akira or Ghost in the Shell.
