You make a very good point here, although, this is a misuse that I either don’t hear very often or don’t recognize when I hear it…maybe it’s just so common that I never think about it. Fortunately, I don’t excercise regularly enough to even bother mentioning it so I don’t make this mistake myself

I can’t confirm but I suspect “regime”, “regimen” and “regiment” have common or similar origins.

I usually associate these 3 words with military activities.
