For the record, I would prefer Chris&#039;s and moguls&#039; from your example above...in Chris, the &quot;s&quot; is already present while in moguls it is already a suffix making the word plural rather than a part of the root word (mogul)

it might also be worth mentioning the difference between its and it&#039;s where one is a contraction of it and is (it&#039;s) and the other is possessive without an apostrophe (its)

As for the iPhone 3G, my humble opinion would say the following:
iPhone 3Gs is plural &quot;I have 17 iPhone 3Gs in my garage&quot;
iPhone 3G&#039;s is possesive &quot;His iPhone 3G&#039;s screen is really scratched and dirty.&quot;
and iPhone 3Gs&#039; is plural possessive &quot;The iPhone 3Gs&#039; batteries don&#039;t last very long.&quot;</description>
