"A great way to “reach the masses” is through some sort of online medium."

I agree on this before tv is a good medium to communicate but today internet is the most effective medium to reach the world.

I've deleted some obvious Twitter bots fairly quickly. Others, have been strangely silent since following and I wait for the flood of spam.
It really comes down to what you find valuable to pay attention to. Bots and non-personal twitters may be spam to most while being very important to some.

If I were to use Twitter, I don't think I would follow non-personal accounts. There have been several times as I was deleting articles from my RSS reader that I have considered not following the likes news outlets on there even. I don't hardly read any news articles that come into my RSS anyway and only occasionally read more than a few of the headlines.

About a month ago, I started following like TUAW, The New York Times, CNN, Digg and some others like that. It's a good replacement for RSS feeds (but not all the time).
