Moving to a New Server

June 19th, 2008 by Michael Kwan

No, I am not abandoning BlueFur, but I have initiated the process of migrating my blog over to one of their other servers.

Lately, there has been a higher rate of downtime with the old server, so I requested that my blog (along with my fighting games blog and Dot Com Pho) be moved over to another server. As I understand it, this process typically takes up to 24 hours, so I’m not entirely sure if this post is being published on the old or the new server (I’m pretty sure it’s on the old one).

It also means that if you post a comment, it may disappear on you when the blog migrates over to the new server. There’s not much I can do about this, so just bear with me.

So the long and the short of it is… excuse the mess for the next day or so, but it should be clear sailing from then on out.

    1. Good luck with the server change. I know how much of a pain it can be!

Good luck with the migration, hopefully it all goes smoothly and without too much interruption.

As far as I can tell, it has been a successful migration. There were a couple of issues with the migration of the WordPress database, but that got rectified very quickly with the BlueFur support/migration team.

    4. I have been thinking about BlueFur a lot lately. I have heard good things on your blog, John Chow, etc. Is there customer service as good as it sounds?

Goodluck to your migration to a new server. You can now tell the difference between servers.

Glad all went smoothly with little downtime. I have also undergone some minor changes with my hosting and domain setup and have recovering from that so I know how nerve wracking it can be.

      Good luck with the migration
