It can be to prove to others or to prove ourselves. And if it's to prove ourselves, it can be more productive.

This part hit me the hardest because that's exactly what I do. I work the hardest when I'm trying to prove a point to other people, but as soon as that point is proven and others are satisfied, I slack off big time.</description>
