I usually stay away from Christian Audigier and Ed Hardy since I find them all really ugly, really. I'll spend a bit more when they're limited edition...like only 50-100 of them are made. Usually they're higher quality t-shirts as well as they're made by people and not machines. That and I hate having the same stuff as other people so being probably the only person in the city to have anything is something I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for.
