Slap Shot Squad Launches in 13 Hours

October 3rd, 2007 by Michael Kwan

That’s Vancouver time, so adjust your watches accordingly.

As you know, SlapShotSquad.com is the new hockey blog created by Ed Lau and me. We held a contest to pick a domain name, giving away a 4GB iPod nano to Jessica Yu and a 8GB iPod nano to Braden Graham.

Joining us in our hockey blogging adventure will be Gary Jones from BlueFur Web Hosting and Rainer Schmoll from Thinkreferrals Blog Network. The four of us will be formally introducing ourselves on Slap Shot Squad tomorrow (Thursday). That’s exactly 13 hours away. Ominous number.

In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek.

What do you think of the banner? The sideboards will probably be open for sponsorship and/or other advertising in some way. Contact me if you’re interested and we can talk.

    1. I don’t know if you like to do memes or not, but just in case you do, I’ve tagged you for the Random Eight Meme. The details are here: http://mistisandefur.blogspot.com/2007/10/eight-random-facts-about-me.html

I like the new header image, although the theme doesn’t seem to fit in my opinion. I’ll be looking forward to following your hockey blog. Being a Blackhawks fan, I’m surprised I am still interested in hockey though. :)

      • Ed Lau says:

Ouch, my condolences. The ‘hawks are a horribly run team which is too bad since they’re one of the most interesting and storied franchises in history. Current ownership and management is just horrible. I feel for everyone in Chicago since the city is an amazing sports town.

But I wouldn’t worry about it too much…most teams bounce back. Look at the nightmare that was Mike Keenan’s reign in Vancouver…all of his stupid trades resulted in awesome trades later on. (Linden -> Bertuzzi and McCabe -> Luongo and the Sedins)

With “Dollar” Bill Wirtz recently passing away, it will be interesting to see the impact that has on the organization.

      • Michael Kwan says:

Then again, Chicago has already had its time in the sun with the legendary career of Michael Jordan. I guess, that’s basketball and we’re talking hockey.

We also had the White Sox win a couple of years ago and the Bears a couple of decades ago, lol. Just so long as the Cubs don’t win it all I will be a happy man. :)
