Is Text Link Ads Broken?

August 17th, 2007 by Michael Kwan

I noticed something in my sidebar the past few days. I run Text Link Ads on this site (note: TLA is holding a 15% off promotion until the end of the month. Just enter “august” in the coupon code area.), and have been reasonably happy with its performance thus far. And then this funky thing happened.

text link ads - tla - sidebar - featured sites

I have a few static links under the Featured Sites section, but the actual text link ads appear to be duplicating themselves for some reason. It seems to happen sporadically and when I check the theme files for my blog, I didn’t find anything out of the ordinary.

Is this happening to anyone else?

    1. Everything is looking good on my blog? Let me know if you find the problem so I can avoid it!

I haven’t seen any problem on my site either but I do recall this happening once before on my site. If I remember correctly, it was something on their end and it was resolved within a day or so.

On my personal site I don’t have any ad spots being used so I cannot tell you if that site is having a problem. :(

It could also be the fact that when you upgraded to the latest wordpress, the code snippet that fixed that EXECPHP plugin broke the plugin again. If you download the new EXECPHP plugin and reupload it, it should be OK, assuming that you are using it in the first place. I know that the first time that plugin broke with a WP upgrade, it was showing doubles in some sections of my sidebar. Just a thought.

    4. Aside from the error, it’s cool to see t-mobile.com advertising on the blog. They are linking with the term “cell phone”, and sure enough if you search google for “cell phone”, they are #1! Just some interesting linking research.

I am with you on this Michael. My solitary text link from TLA usually replicates itself once in a while (every 2 weeks once or so). I did find it weird earlier, but since it disappears in a few hours, I’ve not bothered about it too much..
