OK, I’ll admit it. I’m a sucker for contests, especially when the prize is as awesome as a 7.1 megapixel digital camera. And it’s a Canon to boot. If it’s anywhere as great as my trusty ultra-zooming S3 IS, I think I’ll be in pocket-sized picture-taking heaven.

Mike (he has a pretty cool name, I’d say) from Stay At Home Dad, Geek Style is very happily giving away a Canon PowerShot SD750 in exchange for a couple of backlinks. All you have to do is follow the linking rules found at the Stay At Home Dad Digital Camera Give-Away post and you’re entered. Well, you’re supposed to give a review of his blog too, but he has no length requirements. Mike will ship to anywhere in Canada and the US for free, but international bloggers are welcome to participate too, as long as they’re willing to chip in for shipping.

I love my Canon S3 IS, but it’s not exactly the most portable photo-taking machine. The SD750 — with its 7.1 megapixels and 3-inch LCD — is certainly a lot more compact and would serve me well for some of my more covert work. Like at a concert.

In terms of the review, I think that the concept behind Devdad.com is a good one, because there are a lot of stay at home dads, despite what popular culture may lead you to believe. Also given that new fathers these days are likely of the Atari or Nintendo generation, they love gadgets and are more likely to be “geeks”. The design of the blog looks very professional, but having an RSS button feature more prominently would be a good idea. I also notice that there’s no monetization… don’t want to make money online, Mike? One last thing, I don’t immediately get the rationale behind the domain name. Development Dad? I don’t get it.

Now gimme my camera. :)
