Comparing yourself to others can be helpful, but don't use it to give yourself excuses to not try to succeed at your chosen endeavor. Try to keep it all in perspective.

You have to be careful when comparing yourself to someone else. You may realize that you don't want to become that person to get to where they are. The key is to find someone that mirrors most of what you are as a person, and fill in the gaps from there.

Howard Hughes had a lot of money. Do you really want to be crazy like him?

As the previous comments mention, comparing yourself to others can lead to difficulty in never feeling like you are making progress to get to their level.

However, the way I interpreted your stance and what I do myself, is not so much a true comparison of others that makes me feel good or bad about myself.

Instead, I look at what people that are more successful than myself have done to get to that point and try to take any lessons that I can apply to my own life and situation.

I don't think of this as a true comparison as I am happy with where I am at in all aspects of my life. But that doesn't mean I am not always trying to improve myself and my business and that is where I see the value in comparing yourself to others. It isn't so much to feel good/bad but more to see what new things you can learn.

I don't think you should compare yourself to others. It can only lead to dissatisfaction.

Comparing yourself to others can be difficult. Worse yet, when people do this for you it can really make for a hard time. I think you should simply be comfortable with who you are!
