It cost around SGD$1.95 to get you a litre of petrol in Singapore though its not very expensive, but we still have many daily commuters driving on expressways and the jam is horrible here given the size of our country.

I agree with the writer. I hope that the gas prices climb even higher. I think this is just sick when millions are spent on building the roads... While it would be much better to invest in better community transport. And of course bike roads. It mean I have to wait at least 20 minutes for the bus, sometimes it doesn't even come. And when it does. I have to stand in the old smelly bus.
If community transportation would be better and had privileges I think many people would ditch their car and prefer the environment healthy way.

But it's easy for me to talk. I haven't renewed my driving license:D

Well we technically could as Canada is not a part of OPEC, the problem is the government is making so much money off taxes, and the oil companies are making even more by selling their oil to the global market rather then keeping it local.

Seeing as Canada produces enough oil to meet it's own daily demand, I wonder how high prices have to go before the people demand that all Canadian oil stays here to lower costs? I don't know if that could legally happen, but we could sustain our own demand quite easily.
